Our Jam & jelly

Our jams and jellies are made with the freshest seasonal fruit, which makes jams and jellies that are packed full of local flavors.  Many of the recipes we use come from my great grandmother’s recipe box.

Our BASKETS

We don’t use paper fillers in any of our custom-made gift baskets.  All baskets are filled to the bottom with North Carolina goodness.  We hand-select every item we sell and can say with confidence that our baskets are packed with the best items available in North Carolina.  When you give one of our baskets as a gift, you are truly giving a taste of North Carolina.

Our Story

Joyce’s Produce at the NC State Farmers Market originated in 1982 as Mitchell Farms.  It was owned by my grandparents, James, and Frances Mitchell.

Mitchell Farms started on the farmer’s line and raised everything that was sold.  In 1986 my grandfather decided to move the business into the permanent building at the market.  My mother, Joyce, started her own business next to my grandparents, and they worked beside each other for many years…

Sixteen jars of fruit jam

We take pride in selling homemade jams and jellies. Most of our homemade products are made from North Carolina fruit.  When my grandparents owned the business, they handmade every jar they sold.  I feel so blessed to have the memories of working with my grandparents in the kitchen:  stirring pots, pouring the jam into jars, and then proudly selling the finished product at the market.  Eventually, my super spunky grandma said, “NO MORE STICKY”! Therefore, a friend of my mother's started making our products using the recipes from my great-grandmother’s recipe books.  Our jarred items are spectacular, and we have a huge following of people that often come to pick up their favorite flavors.”
